Camp Warwa is dedicated to being a leader in the field of outdoor education in Alberta and Canada. We are committed to offering the highest quality learning experience possible for our clients and staff team.
 
Staff will learn a wide variety of skills that include: program facilitation, out-tripping facilitation, counselling strategies, and personal communication strategies.

Job Descriptions

 

Program Manager

The Program Manager runs the day to day management of camp life. They will caretake the facility and staff, seasonal staff management and training, operational management and managing program areas. During the Spring and Summer periods they will be the direct support for our Village Leaders who are part of our seasonal leadership team. The Program Manager is a member of our seasonal senior leadership team and they report to the Assistant Directors. This role is ideal for someone looking to move into a camp management role in the future.

Village Leader

Village Leaders are seasonal members of the Leadership Team. They focus on working with clients during the Spring Season , ensuring that their experience at camp is satisfactory. During the Summer they manage a Village and Staff. Village Leaders are role models in the community and are there to help staff during their time at Camp.

Outdoor Education Instructor

Outdoor Education Instructors are the front-line staff in winter, spring, and fall seasons. They work directly with clients , teaching all the activities at camp to groups of 15 participants, running wide games and preforming campfires in the evening. Outdoor Education Instructors may also be HEROES during their time at Camp where they get to work more behind the scenes of camp with cleaning, maintenance and setting up games. They become Counsellors when the summer camp season begins.

Counsellor

Counsellors are staff over the age of 18 working for the summer season only. They work in pairs each week and are responsible for 8 campers being their mentor, role model and friend during their time at Camp. During the day Counsellors are responsible for running cabin activities during cabin time along with helping out with other activities and wide games thorughout the day. Counsellors may also be HEROES during their time at Camp where they get to work more behind the scenes of camp with cleaning, setting up games and assisting with camper issues. All Counsellors recieve training upon arriving at Camp.

Junior Counsellor

Junior Counsellors are under the age of 18 and are finished Grade 9. They are paired with a Counsellor each week working with a cabin group. During the summer they get to experience frist hand what it is like to be a cousellor along with learning many valuable skills from those around them. They have many of the same responsibilites as Counsellors during the summer . Junior Counsellors may also be HEROES during their time at Camp where they get to work more behind the scenes of camp with cleaning, setting up games and assiting with campers. All Junior Counsellors recieve training upon arriving at Camp.
