Our Dedicated Staff

Carefully selected and screened for their experience in residential camping and working with children these university, college and high school students first priority is to make each campers experience a safe and unforgettable one. 

All Camp Warwa staff participates in an extensive pre camp training program, and all hold current Wilderness First Aid and CPR certifications. The staff who work in our Voyageur, Adventurer and Anake sections are required to have instructor certification in river canoeing.

Camp Director Gerrit Leewes, or "Wind" as he is known at Camp, has been an integral part of the Camp Warwa staff team since 2004.  Gerrit brings a breadth of knowledge and experience to our Summer Camp programs including a BA in Recreation from the University of Alberta, and experience at two other Alberta camps.  Since 2004, Gerrit has held the positions of Outdoor School Instructor, Summer Camp Program Coordinator, Director of Summer Camp Programs position and is now the new Camp Director. 

Faith Trinder, our Director of Summer Camp Programs has been with the team since 2006. "Trillium" as she is known around camp brings degrees in Sociology and Education from Lakehead University, as well as years of teaching and camping experience to our team. She believes that camp is a place for youth to experience nature, community, and healthy challenges. Faith has held the positions of Outdoor School Instructor, Summer Camp Counsellor and the Summer Camp Program Coordinator. This is her second year as the Summer Camp Director.

Denise Greer, our Director of Outdoor School Programs,  joined our team in 2007. "Rapid" as she is known around camp, started as our Summer Camp Out Tripping Coordinator. Along with Denise's extensive camping and tripping experience she brings degrees in Physicial & Health Education and Outdoor Adventure Leadership  from Laurentian University. This is her second year as the Outdoor School Director.
